Not much to report right now, but it's been a while since I posted and I wanted to just give a small update on what's been going on!
Baby is getting big, and making me extremely uncomfortable all the time. My back is killing me and I get hardly any sleep. Ugh, and the fun begins. :)
My belly button is not sticking out yet, but it's on its way. It's flat with my stomach and poking out juuuuust a little bit. I weigh just about 133 or so right now, but I have a Dr. appointment on the 5th and I'll know for sure then.
My blood test results for Diabetes came back normal by the way, which is good.
So that's it really, like I said, not much going on right now, just growing. My baby shower is coming up in about a month and I'm really exited!

Anatomy Scan Ultrasound
Had our anatomy scan ultrasound today at the hospital. The Dr. was fabulous and very friendly. He checked all the baby's parts and organs, he said everything looks great. We got to see all the sections of the heart and thermal imaging of the blood flowing through. Bright blue and red flashes of blood rushing in and out. Very cool. We also got to see the baby open and close it's mouth, got to see it kick around, and the doctor said that the baby was in a great position to get some 3D images, so we got some of those too! The little critter is so cute, all smushed in there. Moving around like crazy.
We still haven't found out what the sex is, and the Dr. didn't even go near that area so we couldn't even try to peak. The baby is growing right on schedule, and according to size and weight, the due date still stands at December 20th!
Here are some pictures from the ultrasound!

View of the baby looking straight at us. You can only see the nose and mouth open:
This is a great 3D shot of the baby's face:
And another 3D one:
It was pretty amazing to see the baby in 3D, I've said before that I didn't really want one, but the Dr. just did it; and it was really neat. Definitely the best ultrasound yet!

Dr. Appointment, 9-11-2006
Had a Dr. appointment yesterday, everything is looking good. I’ve gained 3lbs since my last appointment. Lucky for me it was time to do the glucose test, so I drank the little bottle full of sugar and went back an hour later to get some blood taken to check for diabetes. I should have my results back sometime soon.
On Thursday we have an ultrasound scheduled to check out all the baby’s organs and what not, make sure everything is developing properly and there aren’t any issues. I’ll post some pictures if we get any! And by the way, we don’t know what the sex is, and we don’t plan on finding out!

Found a New Doctor
Well, I’ve found a new Dr.. I scheduled a consultation with him to get a feel for what he was like and he turned out to be great. Caring, attentive, nice, lots of things I’d want in a Dr. who I’d be spending a lot of time with and the complete opposite of my other doctor. My mom and I both liked him but Jason wasn't able to make the appointment because of work so he'll meet him on the 11th at my next visit. He’s a younger guy and he delivers at my hospital. I have an appointment with him on the 11th and an anatomy scan ultrasound scheduled for the 14th!

Not To Pleased With My Dr.
So, I've not really been enjoying my Dr. visits. My original OB/GYN was great and I’ve known him for a long time; the problem? He doesn’t deliver babies anymore. So unfortunately, after the first trimester he sends you to a delivery doctor, which I was (and still am) really bummed about. He gave me a list of different doctors and highly recommended on in particular. Jason and I decided we’d try him out, so we made an appointment.
The first appointment with him was disappointing. I think it had a lot to do with my expecting someone like my other doctor, but it also had to do with his bedside manner. Basically, he has none. Very cold, in and out in 5 minutes, he barely said anything, and it was just… not fun. I thought maybe it was just me, so we opted to give him another try.
Four weeks later we had another appointment. This time we were scheduled to have an ultrasound, but for some reason, the office didn’t schedule it and told us the earliest opening was about a week later. He wanted us to have an outside ultrasound (better equipment). We were pretty anxious to have an ultrasound to see the progress so we asked if they could just do it there. The doctor said yes but didn’t seem too happy about it at all.
We had the ultrasound. This time we got to see a lot. I the picture to the right you can see the spine!!
In the picture below that you can see a foot!
Needless to say the only thing good about the appointment was seeing the sonogram. This time my mom got to come, which was great. We still weren’t impressed by the Dr. We tried to be optimistic, though, and made yet another appointment. Another 3 weeks later we went back, this time with Jason’s step mom, and my birthing coach, Peggy. She wasn’t impressed with him just as my mom wasn’t. The appointment lasted a whole 2 minutes and we were on our way.
That was enough for me. I've decided to look for another Dr. Check back very soon for an update!
First Kicks!
Feeling the baby kick for the first time was awesome. With a steadily growing belly, I felt the baby moving around shortly after 12 weeks or so. Jason couldn't feel anything yet, nor could anyone else, but I was feeling it all the time. It's strange to think that there is a little person moving around in there!
Every night when we went to bed I would lie flat and wait... and wait... and wait for the baby to kick; and it would. I'd get all giddy every time. People told me that it would be neat when I finally started to feel something, and they were right! It's hard to explain what it feels like, I guess the best description is butterflies or gas. If you've never been pregnant, you can only imagine the feeling and it was different than I thought it was going to be.
It wasn't but a few weeks later when Jason felt the bugger kick! We were lying in bed and I was feeling it move around a lot. He pressed his hand on my belly and waited. It kicked and he felt it! Finally! I was so excited that he could feel what I was feeling for weeks!
Ultrasound on 6-8-06
Our next ultrasound was an exciting one. Having not gotten this far during the last pregnancy, we got to see new things! We had arms, legs, a head, and kicks! I couldn't feel anything yet but it was pretty amazing to see it moving around in there. I couldn't help but have a smile on my face everytime I looked at the picture. My mom was supposed to come with us to the appointment so she could see the sonogram but she ended up staying home. Needless to say she was bummed when we showed her what she missed out on!
**In this picture you can clearly see the new developments! The (huge!) head is at the top and the arms are sticking out to the sides. The legs and feet are curled up on the bottom so you can't really see them**

From the Beginning
Hi! My name is Rochelle and I am pregnant with our first baby! Right now I am 24 weeks along and we’re doing very well. Everything is so exciting right now, the baby’s kicks, my belly getting big, and all the other things that go along with being pregnant. I have made this blog dedicated to posting from now until the baby is born, with updates and pictures and news!
I suppose I should start from the beginning. Last year in October, Jason and I found out I was pregnant and we were so excited. Things were going fine until December 14th, 2005. I woke up at about 2am with a horrible pain in my back that just kept getting worse by the minute. I went to the Dr. who said I had a problem with my kidneys; we weren’t sure if it was kidney stones or an infection. Next day I visited my OB/GYN and he informed me that I need to go to the ER if my temperature went above 102*. Sure enough, later that night my temperature skyrocketed to 103.8*.
I ended up ended up being admitted to the hospital that night, at 8.5 weeks pregnant. The pain I had was just outrageous. After a couple hours of waiting, I finally got an IV in my arm and some painkillers. The next day it was determined that I had a very severe kidney infection and some small grains of sand in there. Lovely. I was in the hospital for 4 days, I had the chills, an almost constant fever of at least 103* plus or minus, and I couldn’t eat without feeling sick to my stomach. So needless to say, it really sucked.
I was released from the hospital on a Monday and sent home with an IV still in my arm (that took five different stabs to get in my arm) that I would then receive an antibiotic injection through once a day for an additional week. Finally the pain was gone and I was on my way back home. A nurse came to the house everyday at around 11am to give me my antibiotics. The week went slow but eventually I was done with the medication and the infection was gone.
Christmas was great, I was all better and Jason and I spent Christmas with our families opening presents, eating food, and having a good time. On December 27th we had a check up appointment with my OB. He wanted to give me an ultrasound to check out the baby. Immediately upon seeing the sonogram, devastation ensued. There was no fetal heart activity and no growth in the last two weeks. At 10.5 weeks we’d lost the baby.
Obviously upset, we went home and I called my family with the news. The following day I had a D&C and that was that. We both took it really hard but the devastation lingered with me for some time after that day. It seemed like everyone we knew was pregnant and calling to tell us the good news. I had a really hard time coping with everything and it didn’t get better for a couple of months. Soon I just learned to accept what happened and move on.
April 11th was my 25th birthday and it was the best one next to my 21st. Jason threw me a surprise party with all the special people in my life, and he (completely unexpected by me) proposed. Everyone had a great time. A week later we found out I was pregnant again!! Nervous but excited, we didn’t really want to tell anyone this time because of the upsetting events during our last pregnancy.
Now at 24 weeks, everyone we know knows and we are very excited for what’s in store in the near future. Our first little carpet critter is due December 20th!!
